JUAN Ramos Martín (jrm1404@gmail.com) is a PHD and associate professor in the Department of Sociology and Communication at University of Salamanca, where has taught for a number of years. He holds a degree in Audiovisual Communication and an MA in Latin American Studies. His research focuses on the study of network structures within community, alternative and free media in Latin America and its influence on communication policymaking. He has been an invited to teach at several universities in Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador and Guatemala. During his various stays in Latin America, Juan has also collaborated on several community media projects, Radio Atipiri, Radio San Gabriel and Radio Kawsachun Coca among them. He is author of different papers and book chapters in peer-reviewed academic journals in Spain, Europe, USA and Latin America. He is a member of different groups and associations such as Consejo Latinoamericano de Ciencias Sociales (CLACSO), Unión Latina de Economía Política de la Información, la Comunicación y la Cultura (ULEPICC), Red Europa América Latina de Comunicación y Desarrollo (REALCODE) and Community Media Forum Europe (CMFE).
