David Montero Sánchez

DAVID Montero Sánchez (davidmontero@us.es) is a lecturer at the Department of Journalism I (University of Seville). He specializes in the field of visual culture, non-fiction filmmaking and citizen participation. David’s current research focuses on the use of participatory video in on-line environments as a means to foster political engagement and developing socio-cultural skills in different environments (i.e. education). He is the author of Thinking Images. The Essay Film as a Dialogic Form in European Cinema (Peter Lang, 2012) and has published several articles on non-fiction filmmaking and citizen empowerment. He is the autor, along with D. José Manuel Moreno, of the book El cambio social a través de las imagines. Guía a para entender y utilizar el vídeo participativo (Los Libros de la Catarata, 2014) and Videoactivismo y movimientos sociales (GEDISA, 2015), co-edited with Dr. Francisco Sierra Caballero. He has previously taught at the University of Bath (UK).
